Who are we?
2009.10.30. 10:21
Our group has been founded in the spring of 2004 at the Saint Gellrt Parish of Kelenfld. Our leader is Josef Pinczinger who is a music teacher and composer and who in the '80s has been the chorister of the parish, then the music teacher of the Jzsef Attila Gimnzium and the Budai Ciszterci Szent Imre Gimnzium. These days he teaches music In the Premontrei Technical College and Trade School.
Our repertoire is offering a big variety of church music. You can find gregorian songs, poliphonic songs, ortodox songs. Though mostly we are performing our leader's own compositions. These are very differen from the usual church music but are very special and full of faith. We perform them singing mostly accompanied by different musical instruments (guitar, organ, floute, whistle, violin, cello, various drums, trumpet, oboe).
As the repertoire, the members are very mixed. You can find among us secondary school students, college students, university students and adults from different occupations. There are a few enthusiastic „youngsters” who sometimes with their parents are attending the rehearsals and programmes.
Most of us are there because we love making music, many of us had been learning an instrument for a long time. By the Amor Sanctus we sing in different groups, as scholas, folk choirs. For many of us it s an unforgettable memory that we could join in the '80s the choirs, groups lead by Josef Pinczinger at the parish, many of us as a child.
About our programmes
We think it important to give happiness and joy to our listeners making celebrations and everydays nicer. We'd like to introduce the special music of Josef Pinczinger to a wider audience. We try to manage to sing on a mass or service or preyer hour every month. In organizing the events we try to be as flexible as we can, since the members have their own full diarys as well.
Since the group was founded we've sung at different places not just in Budapest, but in the surrounding towns as well such as Lajosmizse or Kalocsa.
Since the summer of 2005 we arrange choir weekends.
„Even the weekdays are hiding treasures in themselves all we have to do is to find them” Wrote Karl Rahner. We believe that through music we can get closer to these treasures, get higher – and raise others higher also – to the biggest Treasure.
„Cantare amantis est”
The group was already working for more than a year when finally we've chosen a name. The choice has fallen onto the first words of Rythm of the Love of the Lord written by Saint Bernat of Clairvaux (words set to music by Josef Pinczinger). These worsd are Amor Sanctus – Holy Love. We'd love to express the strong connection between love and music even in our name. We proclaim with Saint Augustin: „cantare amantis est” - who loves, sings.
It began like this:
„On the 6th of April and the 25th of May we held prayer ours with songs from Taiz and written by Josef Pinczinger verses from the Bible and prayers, By the lead of rpd Brcsk diachon we've been thinking abut the secrets and mysreries of Lent and Easter. About the joy of the resurrection and the way Jesus redeemed the world. Organised by Dora Meyer and lead by Josef Pinczinger we practised the songs on Tuesday evenings. Some playing instruments joined us making it even more beautiful. We gathered around the Eucharist and gave thanks to Jesus for the grace we recieved and prayed for others.
Connected to the bigger celebrations there will be occasions like these next year as well. It is good to stop in the rush of our days calm down and prepare for the celebrations this way.”
